How Do I Get a Squirrel Out of a Chimney

A.

Take a thick rope and drop it down the chimney, leaving one end hanging out of the chimney and attached to something. Now the squirrel can climb out. If that doesn’t work, and you have an enclosed fireplace, set a small live trap in the firebox, close the doors and open the damper.  Remove the trap and release the squirrel outside.  After the squirrel is removed, have the chimney inspected to be sure there is no bedding and install a chimney cap to make sure it does not happen again.
