I would just like to personally thank Barbara for taking the time to drive to my job to pick up the injured baby rabbit i rescued last night. She immedietly started giving antibiotics to him/her and took him/her to your rehab. i hope the bunny is doing well. He/she sat in my arm for almost 4 hours lastnight. I am assuming this was the bunnies way of thanking me for saving its life. Please keep me posted on the health of the bunny. It took a lot for me to make the phonecall to have it picked it, cuz i was immediately attached and wanted to keep him for myself but knew it needed special care. thank you again and god bless people like you who care. two things that should never be abused or neglect and animals and children. they are helpless and mostly defenseless. spread the word and god bless

I am very disappointed. All I asked for was a email or phonecall about a question I asked. Is anyone there? Do you have to know Don Jacobs from PA. Outdoor Life to get a response?

Wonderful to meet some of the staff at P.W.R.C. Glad they are willing to try and help the baby raccoon I found this morning!
Amazing facility right in our backyard.

Thanks again!

Chelsea's Story cont'd.... Last Thursday April 14th was a usual day nothing special until we received a phone call from my best friend and neighbor Joanne. Her Golden Retriever Chelsea had found a baby squirrel, eyes not open, in their backyard. She asked if we could assist her. My husband said he would go. He was able to pick up the baby squirrel and place it in a container until they could figure out what to do. Before he left he heard another cry and not far from the first spot there was another baby squirrel also without the eyes open. He placed this one alongside the other and returned home to tell me Joanne was making some calls to find out what to do next. I called her and suggested she call our vet. The vet gave her a list of numbers. I don't remember if it was the first # or the next but that is when Joanne first spoke to Barbara from the Pocono Wildlife center. She was very concerned about the squirrels and asked Joanne if she could meet her. Of course Joanne agreed. Barbara then told her what to do and how to do it so the babies would be as comfortable as possible for the ride down. Joanne called me to tell me there was yet another baby squirrel and could my husband help her. He did and we were almost ready to leave. I was going along to be the protector of the container with the delicate goods. While Joanne was getting everything ready to go I went in the house to say hello to Chelsea the 15 yr old Golden Retriever who I have known since she was a pup. She greeted me as usual tail wagging and looked at me with those beautiful caring eyes of hers. I sat down with her and Thanked her for finding the baby squirrel, told her I loved her and said Good bye. We then got in the car and left to meet Barbara. When we met Barbara we were amazed at how sweet and mild mannered she was. How knowledgeable and wise. She told us exactly what she was going to do to try her best to save the squirrels. Before we left I asked if we could somehow contact her to find out how they were doing. She handed us a brochure and said absolutely we could. On the way home we talked about how Chelsea went in the yard, found the baby squirrel, did not harm it in anyway and stood there sniffing until Joanne could get to her and find out what the curiosity was about. We talked about meeting Barbara and how special of a lady she was and of course we talked about the center and decided we would make a trip there as soon as possible. Later that night Barbara called Joanne to let her know she thought the babies would survive. Joanne then called me. We said what a nice thing that was to do as we obviously were very worried about the baby squirrels. I went to bed that night thinking of all the day's events. If it weren't for Chelsea who was now 15 yrs old, deaf and having problems getting around these days, the baby squirrels would have surely perished. The next day started out as a typical day. I don't remember the exact time when I received a call from Joanne but I will never forget the call. She called to tell me Chelsea had failin ill suddenly and had to be put down. I was shocked, sad and in disbelief. After all, I had just spent time with her not 24hrs ago and she was fine or so I thought. After the shock wore off I started to think of what had transpired those last 24 hrs. I believe things happen for a reason. I believe Chelsea knew the baby squirrel was in trouble. I believe she let us all say our Good Bye's without knowing it would be the last. I believe because of Chelsea we met Barbara and found out about the Pocono Wildlife & Rehab Ctr. I believe everything happened and fell in place the way it did because of Chelsea. As time goes on we will smile at our memories of her but what will stay with me the rest of my life is the special Golden Retriever who was responsible for saving three helpless baby squirrels and reminding me Miracles happen to each and every one of us every day. I will miss you Chelsea! A special Thank you to Barbara and the staff at the Pocono Rehab & Education Center for everything they do.

Thank you for taking the injured squirrel that I found on Lehigh University's Goodman campus. I did not know why he was rolled up in a ball and not able to move but just looked up at me so sad. I was so worried that he would die before I could get to you. I hope his head injury is one he can recover from. Thank you for all the good work you do. Your center give me renewed hope in humankind!

I was able to visit your presentation about the various birds at the Garlic Festival. As a vendor we couldn't stay but I learned so much about the opossum in a few short minutes... Thanks for your great work.

Thank you Barbara for picking up an infant squirrel who fell out of his nest, along w. his siblings who died. The mother did not come. Perhaps something got her, like a hawk. Anyway, you are the best. He was a little champ. What a fighter, the smallest of the three too! Thank you. God Bless you and Pocono Rehab

I just want to say many thanks to Barbara Miller who helped me with a baby crow that fell from our Elm tree. I did my best to help, but I knew I could not give him the best care needed. Just making a few calls, Barbara was at my doorstep within 10 minutes to take the baby crow to safety. I thank the Gods there are such people and organizations out there to looking out for the helpless wild animals, and the helpless humans who find them!

I am writing this letter to say thank you for taking in the 3 little bear cubs on 6/17/2010. I unforentally hit their mommy on the road and sadley killed her. I tried everything in my power to avoid hitting her .She came out of the woods right in front of me and i was unable to miss her.I stayed at the scene until help arrived and the game commission showed up to remove her and thankfully heard the babies up a tree.I am sooo thankful that game comm. officer Fred Merluzzi was willing to take the time to bring the little ones to the rehab center.I want to send out a graceious and sincere thank you to all involved. This is a happy ending to a sad situation.

Just wanted to say "Thank You" for all of the wonderful work you do for these precious animals! I dropped off an orphaned fawn to you on Sunday, 5/30. It is a great feeling to know that he will be well cared for, until he is ready to be released into the wild. Thank you, also, to Barbara for caring & for taking the time to talk to me on the phone & for helping me to figure out if the little fawn truly was abandoned. My family & I look forward to seeing your center at your Open House on June 12th! Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for taking the abandoned baby bunny today. I know that he/she is in good hands, and it is such a comfort to know that your facility is there to help animals like that.

We just dropped off four orphan baby bunnies and I thought you should know their names. The littlest one is Little Rock, the pushy one was Manhatten, the one who was tucked it the blanket was Wichata, and the only one left was Pennsy. Tongue

My friends and I found two domestic white ducklings in a public park. We assume they were Easter gifts that weren't wanted after they began to grow up. A great big "thank you" to the Center for helping these two sweet birds. Everyone, please communicate to others that animals are not disposable gifts.

A baby squirrel found us and, thankfully, I found Pocono Wildlife. After he disappeared and with much worry, Barbara helped with advice on how to help "Ralph" (as the girls named him). We managed to capture this tiny, wet and hungry guy and he is now in your care. Thanks so much for all you do!

We just wanted to say thank you so much! It was wonderful to know there was somewhere safe to take the red fox cub that everyone else wanted to put down! Knowing our new friend is going to be taken well care of is a HUGE relief! Thank you again for giving wildlife a fighting chance, you guys are angels- and we will continue to support your organization!

Kathy,
I have met you and your husband a few times through the wine tasting fundraiser and your show at the garlic festival. Your educational show was wonderful and greatly needed to inform the public. My daughter and I hope to see you both again in the spring, and we support you whenever we can. Take care
